Design and Build Quality

The Vivo V30 is a camera-oriented mid-ranger, bringing a sleek aesthetic and some enticing features. These include a premium display, a big battery, quick charging, and an able chipset. The V30 has a svelte and lightweight body, curved both on the front and back.

The back uses tempered glass, and we rather like the way the texture flows on this shiny Aqua color scheme. The phone’s frame is plastic—slim and glossy—but doesn’t provide much purchase. Not to forget, the camera setup – a dual-square design, where the top part carries cameras, and the lower one is basically an LED flash with aura fill light that can light up in different colors depending on the scenario. The ingress protection here is IP54 against dust and splashes.

Display

The screen on the V30 is a 6.78-inch OLED featuring 1260p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen itself isn’t curved, just the protective glass on top. The display looks great—contrasty and sharp at 453 PPI. It supports 10-bit color depth and HDR10+ video, and it’s plenty bright, too.

We measured over 500 nits maximum brightness with the manual slider, and this can boost to over 1200 nits in auto mode when needed in bright conditions. It’s adaptive, going from 120Hz when you’re swiping and scrolling down to 60Hz while idling to save energy.

Audio Set Up

One of the letdowns of the Vivo V30 is indeed the audio setup – there’s only a single speaker. Sure, most phones these days have stereo speakers, but the loudness is good, while the sound quality is average, with okay vocals and almost no bass.

Biometric Fingerprint

Biometrics: There’s an under-display fingerprint reader on the Vivo V30, and it is fast and reliable. It will come in either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage; none of it is expandable via microSD.

Operating System

The V30 runs on Vivo’s own Funtouch OS 14 atop Android 14. It is a highly customized UI with lots of features. You get a bunch of options to customize the looks and animations of the interface, holding the volume key when the screen is off can serve as a shortcut to launch an app or perform a certain task. Vivo did not say how much support the V30 will get, but if the V30 Pro model is anything to go by, then the V30 should get two major OS updates and three years of security patches.

Performance

Under the hood, the V30 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. It’s a modern and power-efficient mid-range chip from the Snapdragon 7 family. So, it stands between the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.

Benchmarks scores are competitive and good for the class; you won’t be disappointed here. The phone runs smooth enough – there is some power left over for gaming as well. The sustained performance is very good too – during our prolonged stress test, we saw hardly any thermal throttling.

Battery Life

But where this phone really shines is in battery life. The Vivo V30 has a 5,000mAh battery and passed our test with flying colors, earning an outstanding active use score of 15 hours and 32 minutes – that’s among the best out there. The phone supports 80W charging, and the proper adapter comes in the box. We were able to charge the phone from 0% to 74% in half an hour, and a full charge took 42 minutes.

Camera

The camera setup of the V30 includes a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide, which has autofocus. Some markets get an additional depth sensor. During the day, the main camera produces photos that are colorful, sharp, and clean.

The fine detail level is good, and the dynamic range is solid. Still, we would have preferred a slightly brighter exposure in some scenarios. Digital zoom of two times is just alright, and images are coming a little soft, the noise reduction too sometimes smears some of the details.

During poor light conditions, it automatically moves into a Night Mode setting; this results in really good stuff with the leading camera. Pictures come clean, very well balanced and colored brightly enough with considerable information.

It also maintains quite adequate detail within shadows, preserves very well light sources, along highlights. 4K video from the main camera is pretty solid-we like the contrast, sharpness, detail, and vibrant colors. The rendering is impressive, even in cloudy weather, with quite a bit of detail in the shadows without blowing out the highlights. The standard 4K footage is stabilized by default, and the stabilization quality is good.

Meanwhile, there is a 50MP front camera, too. Which brings quality: details and sharpness in photos; colours real, skin tone too, as well as dynamic range.

Conclusion

So, that’s the Vivo V30. It brings outstanding battery life, a bright OLED display, and great camera performance for the class. The main shortcoming is that it has a single speaker rather than stereo speakers. The V30 is also a bit more expensive than popular competitors. If those things don’t bother you, then the Vivo V30 is a unique and well-rounded mid-ranger that’s worth recommending.
