General Overview
The Infinix M9 is a successor to the Infinix M8 that I reviewed a few months ago. It comes with a refined design, a claimed 120Hz refresh rate display, and on the box of the phone, you can clearly see “WR 48 months of smoothness.
Something which is not clear yet. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81, which is the very same chipset you get in several more expensive handsets. And so, here’s me finally playing with it, and for this video, I’m taking you through, well, literally everything you may want to know about the Infinix Smart 9.
Inside the box, you get all the necessary accessories: a charging brick, a USB cable, a plastic TPU case which I really don’t like, that type of case where you apply too much pressure, it breaks. It doesn’t completely protect the phone. I got this phone for roughly around 133,000, which, if you do the math, is approximately about 85 dollars.
Well, I don’t know the suggested retail price, but I was guessing it wasn’t above 135,000 dollars. But with the range or competition surrounding options like the Tecno Spark 30C, Redmi 14C, or Samsung Galaxy A6 in price, one might say close competition.
I have compared all the phones that I have mentioned, and in the comment section, let me know which one you want me to compare with the Smart 9.
I love the design of this phone; it is somewhat refreshing coming from those circular and square camera cutouts that are slowly becoming or getting a bit too repetitive. It is plastic-built and has an IP54 water splash and dust-resistant rating.
Infinix Smart 9 Specs; A Detailed Review
Design
The Infinix Smart 9’s design is flat with an equally grainy monotone back panel, simply yet attractively providing an aesthetic appeal. The back panel is sleek but adds better grip, so it limits accidental slips. The texture at the back not only adds beauty but ensures that the phone is less prone to smudges or fingerprints, something most users will like.
It also comes with an IP54 rating, meaning it only gets characterized as waterproof and adds protection against dust; hence this smartphone is going to be an excellent companion for almost every kind of environment the user is application-theoretically using.
Dimensions
This type of device measures 165.7mm in height, 77.1mm in width, and 8.35mm in thickness, making this a reasonably sized phone in terms of holding comfortably without bulging out much. Weight at 188 grams gives it a good weight balance—light but solid enough to give a premium feel.
Display
Infinix Smart 9 offers a 6.7-inch IPS a-Si LCD, giving true-to-life colors, providing wide viewing angles, and sharp details for a budget-friendly device. The resolution of 720 x 1,600 due to the HD+ is very common and not Full HD-although it still works reasonably well for viewing videos, surfing, or gaming-for this price range in the budget category.

It comes with up to 120Hz of refresh rate, lighting up one of the major selling points of this display. High refresh rate means easier scrolling, smoother animations, and a real difference to using some applications.
At a typical brightness of 500 nits, the display of the Infinix Smart 9 suits daily lighting conditions reasonably well. It may, however, require adjustment to the maximum brightness for enhanced visibility when under direct sunlight.
Another feature is that you can use the display when it gets wet or greasy. Convenience is the phone usage without the worry of smudges affecting its touch sensitivity while cooking or being caught in the rain.
Chipset
The MediaTek Helio G81, an octa-core processor built on 12nm, powers the Infinix Smart 9. Power-wise, the G81 is another decent entry-level chip suited to handling simple usage with very little hassle for things like social media, browsing, light gaming, and even watching videos. A g81 upgrade from the Helio g85 makes it a terrific budget smartphone chipset: it goes in with a well-balanced power-efficient performance without draining too much power.
It’s not the most suited option for heavy-duty gaming or intense multitasking for an extensive app range, but it provides satisfactory daily usage by giving an effortless experience with no slowdown or hitch.
RAM and Storage
The Infinix Smart 9 is available in two variants: one has 3GB, and the other has 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which could be virtually expanded using the RAM Expansion feature. It uses part of the built-in storage for improving multitasking on your phone and allows running multiple apps at the same time with a bit more fluidity.
For such budgets, the phone offers 64GB internal storage options and 128GB ones, nothing short of generous. It also has a slot for expandable storage of up to 2TB capacity using a MicroSD card, providing decent room for organizing all sorts of media, documents, and apps.
ess adjustments, and other functions. For complete multimode navigation, the device has more than one navigation feature for easy positioning including built-in data, GPS, and AGPS.
Operating System and User Interface
The Infinix Smart 9 runs on Android 14 (Go Edition), a light version of Android, fine-tuned for entry-level type devices as it assures even better performance and lesser usage of resources while delivering smoother performance regarding rather humble hardware.
Right on top of Android 14, the phone supports XOS 14.0. The customized user interface of Infinix is XOS: A customizable offering that comes with many features, including AI-powered optimizations, security settings, and user settings to experiment with. It also invites very smooth touch movements accompanied by a dynamic visual feel with smooth animations.
Cameras
The Infinix Smart 9 has a dual-camera setup on the rear side. It has a 13MP sensor for better pictures taken in day light conditions, whereas there is an additional camera having unspecified resolution which most likely is responsible for depth-sensing while they take portrait shots with various other effects.

For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera that is encased in a waterdrop notch and is positioned centrally. Though this might not be one of the greatest resolutions for a front camera, it is impressive enough to carry out social media shots and video calls in bright lighting. But the low light conditions can give not-so-good selfies.
Security
A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is present on the Infinix Smart 9. Fast and accurate phone unlocking is achieved and supplemented by the Face Unlock feature, providing another option for unlocking the device. This assists with additional peace of mind regarding the protection of the user’s data.
A battery of sensors, such as gravity sensor, electronic compass, virtual gyroscope, light sensor, and proximity sensor, is mounted on the phone. These sensors improve the experience with respect to motion sensing, making the screen brightness adjustments, etc. For complete multimode navigation, the device has more than one navigation feature for easy positioning including built-in data, GPS, and AGPS.
Battery and Charging
The Infinix Smart 9 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which provides enough power to sustain a user’s routine throughout the day with a single charge. Moderate users can survive up to 24 hours on a full charge. Heavy users will manage around 7-8 hours of screen time. For light users, battery life can stretch easily to up to 2 days.
It boasts of 10W charging, which is pretty standard for budget devices. Not the fastest charging available, but with such a battery size, there’s actually no need to charge frequently through the day.
Connectivity
The dual SIM function in the Infinix Smart 9 will come in handy to have two lines, one for work and the other for home, at the same time. Moreover, it is 4G ready for fast internet connectivity-browsing, streaming, and even gaming online with some compromise settings.
Among other wireless functionality, it has Dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth, USB Type-C for charging and data transfer, an IR remote for controlling other devices, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio.
Colour Options
The Infinix Smart 9 comes in metallic black, neo titanium, mint green, and sandstone gold, as the colors available for this phone. There are several colors to suit different tastes.
